Week 8

BROOKLYN HILLBILLY (9-4-1)

No long speeches today kids, these are gonna be short to allow the Hillbilly a chance to congregate with fellow Red Sox fans across the mighty East River in Manhattan for Game 2 of the World Series.

Philadelphia at Minnesota(+1):
These are always the worst games to pick, two underachievers who have shown a few flashes of brilliance but overall just stunk up the field. I think the dream is over in Philly, they are a middling team in a good division, and that's never good for morale (until the last few weeks of the season, where they could be a spoiler). The team has talent, but they cant pull out the Ws. The Vikings aren't as good, but at home I like them to make this a good game. Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor will rack up some yards in this game and Kelly Holcomb will be not disastrous. I think that's enough to win. Vikings win 17-14

Green Bay(+3) at Denver:
Frankly, I'm still smarting over Denver's last game. I had to endure 2 phone calls from my Bronco-fan brother about how much Big Ben sucks. And you could have made that case in the first half (the whole Pitt team looked like shit in the 1st half), but he got his shit together for the 2nd half. I just wish we could find 5 guys willing to work together to be the Steelers O-line. But I digress. Cutler and the Donkeys looked good enough to take advantage of a lazy, unorganized Steeler team for 2 quarters, but only good enough to hang on in the second half. Without Jason Elam, this team is close to a top 5 draft pick next April. Things aren't getting easier for them either. This week it is Favre and the Packers coming to town, just in time to help everyone forget the Rockies got swept in the World Series. Ive mentioned the fact that GB has no running game, but apparently that doesn't matter anymore. Denvers pass D will slow Favre, but eventually snap under the pressure. I see the Donkeys making a valiant effort but falling short. Packers win 28-21
